Murphy-Dawkins shoots Scotiabank to another big win
MARSHA Murphy-Dawkins of Scotiabank 'A' was in good shooting form once again as she guided her team to a humiliating 113-6 win over Sagicor 'A' as the 2015 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Senior 'A'/'B' Leagues continued at the Leila Robinson Courts last Saturday.
Murphy-Dawkins, A former Senior Sunshine Girl invitee who plays mainly the goal-shooting role for Scotiabank 'A', netted 84 goals from 98 attempts as the defending champions made easy work of Sagicor 'A'.
This was also Scotiabank 'A' second consecutive hundred margin victory as the previous Saturday they bombarded Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) 105-5, a team which moved up from Intermediate 'A' League to the Senior League this season. It was Scotiabank 'A' sixth win from as many starts.
Murphy-Dawkins is also the leading goal-shooter and scorer in the Business House Senior League for the past five years.
Meanwhile, Sagicor who started with six players before the seventh arrived, found the going tough against Scotiabank 'A' who took a commanding 35-1 lead at the first quarter break.
Scotiabank 'A' then went into the half- time break leading 50-3, before increasing the margin to 84-4 at the final break.
Meanwhile, Open League champions General Accident chalked up their fifth win from as many starts when they defeated GraceKennedy 66-27. The quarterly scores for the winners were 17-6, 32-16, and 47-22.
For General Accident, goal-shooter Sabrina Spence netted 52 goals from 53 attempts.
Both Scotiabank 'A' and General Accident are expected to meet in the big clash on Saturday.
In another Senior 'A'/'B' League match, Jamaica Urban Transit Corporation (JUTC) defeated Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) 45-18. The quarterly scorers were 8-8, 17-11, and 31-17. Joy Saddler scored 23 from 33, and Marcella Thompson added 22 from 34 attempts for JUTC, while Trishell Williams got 15 points from 18 efforts for BOJ.
In other matches played last Saturday, Radio Jamaica (RJR) beat Seprod 24-12; South East Regional Health Authority defeated Urban Development Corporation (UDC); XEROX beat Heart Trust/NTA 35-24.
Wisynco 'A' got the better of Cari-Med 47-44; Victoria Mutual outscored Digicel Jamaica 29-16; Guardian Life defeated Jamaica Public Service (JPS) 36-28; Sagicor 'B' clipped National Housing Trust (NHT) 'B' 27-26; National Commercial Bank (NCB) defeated Flow Jamaica 50-31.
