‘Accident’, Scotiabank in netball feature
DEFENDING champions General Accident and former champions Scotiabank A face each other in the feature of the 2013 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Senior League encounter this evening at the Leila Robinson Courts, beginning at 7:00 pm.
Both teams are unbeaten in the Senior A/B combined League with defending champions General Accident Insurance Company holding a victory over the bankers earlier in the Open League semi-finals by a mere six goals.
The defending champions and the bankers are joint leaders in the point standings with 18 each from six consecutive wins from as many starts, while Jamaica Boilers are in third place with 18 points but from seven matches.
Prior to today's showdown between the two, the bankers encountered their biggest test last Saturday when they held off a late burst from Jamaica Broilers to win 44-38. Today's encounter, however, should be much sterner for the bankers who are looking to avenge their defeat in the Open League semis.
The match could very well end up into a shooting competition between Margaret Lawrence of General Accident and Tannisha Bernard of Scotiabank A. One thing for sure, however, Lawrence will certainly be on top of her shootings with support to come from Sabrina Spence, while Bernard who is the main shooter for the bankers, must get the support of Patricia McCalla should they turn the table on the defending champions.
Other Division League games on today are, LIME Jamaica vs FLOW Jamaica; CARI-MED vs The Gleaner at 4:15; Jamaica National Group vs Bank of Jamaica; Appliance Traders Limited vs Victoria Mutual Group; Sagicor Life Jamaica B vs National Housing Trust (NHT) B.
