General Accident whip Grace in Senior League

DEFENDING champions General Accident Insurance Company (GAIC) defeated Grace Kennedy 64-23 goals as the 2013 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Senior A/B League competition continued at the Leila Robinson Courts on Tuesday night.

The win was the Oberon-Pitterson-coached insurance aggregation's ninth from as many starts as they sealed first place in the combined leagues with maximum 27 points.

General Accident have qualified for the three-team play-off for the Senior A League title. Along with former champions Scotiabank A, who have 21 points from eight matches, and Jamaica Broilers with 18 points from eight matches.

Both Scotiabank A and Broilers will play their final game in the preliminary round against Grace Kennedy and Scotiabank B, respectively, on Saturday.

Meanwhile, General Accident which made easy work of Grace Kennedy, led 14-18 at the first quarter break and moved into a 30-12 lead at half-time.

Goal-shooter Sabrina Spence went on a goal-scoring spree with support from Nadine Bryan at goal-attack in the third quarter, bringing the score to 47-16, as they dominated the match to come out with an impressive and resounding 64-23 win.

For the defending champions, Spence netted 54 from 61 attempts and Bryan 10 from 13 efforts, while for the losers Nicolene Allen-Blackwood got 21 from 31 efforts.

General Accident had beaten Jamaica Broilers 54-35 goals last Saturday and Scotiabank A 44-42 the previous Saturday.

Scotiabank A defeated National Housing Trust A 55-12, after leading in quarterly scores of 13-3, 28-6 (half-time), 43-8 and finally wrapping up at 55-12 at the end.

Meanwhile, Jamaica Broilers beat Jamaica Public Service (JPS) 26-0 after the power service team failed to take the court for the second quarter. The umpires blew off the match after adding a further one minute for JPS to take the court which they did not. As a result the umpires awarded the match to Jamaica Broilers.

In another game, Sagicor Life Jamaica got past Jamaica Infrastructure Operators 48-45 after leading in quarters 16-10, 28-22 (half-time), 38-33 before holding off their opponents 48-45 goals.

Transport Authority of Jamaica (TOJ) defeated WISYNCO A 59-27 in another match.
