Scotiabank ‘A’, General Accident atop in Super League netball
DEFENDING champions Scotiabank 'A' and former champions General Accident are joint leaders in the 2010 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Super League competition, which continues today at the Leila Robinson Courts.
Today, Scotiabank 'A' are down to face Jamaica Constabulary Force 'A', while General Accident go up against National Housing Trust. Both teams are expected to win their respective encounters quite comfortably.
After playing five games each in the Super League and coming out with convincing wins over their opponents, both Scotiabank 'A' and General Accident Insurance are tied with 15 points from five games each.
Both teams are yet to face each other in the Super League, and this will take place next Saturday when the two clash to decide which team tops the group. Both teams are already through to the semi-finals.
On Thursday, General Accident were in action in a postponed encounter against Jamaica Broilers and came out easy 59-34 winners. It was the second defeat for Broilers who are in joint third place with the Jamaica Constabulary Force 'A' with nine points each.
Meanwhile, Sagicor Life Jamaica chalked up their second win from five starts by defeating WISYNCO 49-45 in a hard-fought encounter.
Jamaica Public Service lead the Jamaica Infrastructure Operators (JIO)-sponsored Intermediate 'A' League with 12 points from four wins, while a tussle for the three remaining places are between JIO with seven points and Digicel Jamaica, GraceKennedy and HEART Trust/NTA, who are all tied with six points.
In the top-of-the-table clash in the WISYNCO-sponsored Intermediate 'A' League, Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) defeated Bureau of Standards Jamaica 34-26 to take the lead on goal difference. Both teams have 15 points from seven games. ATL have scored 165 with 136 against, while BSJ have 168 for and 164 against.
LIME Jamaica and NMIA Airports Limited are joint leaders in the J Wray and Nephew-sponsored Junior League competition with 15 points each. Both teams have played seven games and won six, while losing one. NMIA beat LIME 23-19 on Thursday to join them at the top of the points standings.
